Baseball Betting – Braves Taking on the World

The Atlanta Braves have hit the ground running after the All-Star break and this team looks like a great bet going down the homestretch of the 2018 season. It should be a top priority for baseball bettors everywhere to find a great baseball bonus. If your sportsbook is not offering the type of bonus that drew you in at the first of the season, then it’s most definitely time to start looking around. Knowing the rules of a bookie is the first thing you should be familiar with before signing on the dotted line. You certainly don’t want surprises when it comes time for a payout. Are the Atlanta Braves experiencing a renaissance? It has certainly been a while since the Braves have been good and a long while since the Braves were winning the division every year. The glory days of this storied franchise are long over, and the rebuilding has commenced.

NCAA Football Odds – Way Too Early NCAA Championship Football Odds

The Braves are a franchise in transition, they are a franchise with a ton of money and all the resources in the world. They play in a state of the art stadium in a city that has supported them through thick and thin and the fan base is huge. The overall fan base of the Atlanta Braves could be the largest fan base in all of the Major Leagues. It covers a very large area from Alabama to Tennessee across Florida and up into the Carolinas. There is simply no reason for this team to be bad.

The great Braves teams all started in the early 90’s and has continues well into the mid to late 2000’s. The Braves finished 1st in the NL East in 1991-1993 and followed the 93 season up with a second place finish, from 1995-2005, they finished first and won their division. In 2008 they finished 4th in the division but every other year since 2005 they have not finished worse than 3rd and have finished in 2nd place 3 times. Again in 2014, the Braves finished in 2nd place followed up by a 4th, 5th and then third place finish last season in 2017.

MLB Baseball Betting – Second Half, Who Delivers, Who Falls Off?

The Braves have moved past all of the noise of the 90’s and early to mid-2000’s. It is now time for the fans to believe in a new team, this Braves team is new, young, talented and they want to win. The Bobby Cox era is long in the past as well as the Freddy Gonzalez era, for what that era was worth. He did win a division title in 2013.

The Braves have amassed the hitting and it looks as if they have amassed the pitching. What they must do is stay consistent and have a little luck on their side. The National League west is g fun division to watch and a fun one to bet on. The out of division games are even better. This division is so tight that betting within it, almost becomes a guess. Find a great sports handicapping website and do your homework. Come prepared for the remainder of the season and win big money. Beat the bookie this year and have a nice pile stacked up for the upcoming football season.

Henrik Stenson’s History-making Open Championship Victory ‘16

In winning the 2016 Open Championship, Swedish golfer Henrik Stenson became the first male Scandinavian to win a major tournament, improving on his second place finish in 2013.

Stenson set a record in the process of winning his first major as he produced the lowest 72-hole score in a major by finishing on 20 under, with 264.

Two years on and Henrik Stenson has failed to rediscover the form he showed at the Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland in 2016. However, this year’s Open Championship represents a great opportunity for the Swede to return to top form.

The current Betfair Open Championship odds have Stenson at 25/1 to win the title for a second time, while 2017 winner Jordan Spieth is currently the third favourite with a price of 14/1.

For those who didn’t have the privilege of seeing Henrik Stenson’s 2016 victory, here’s a trip down memory lane:

First Round

Henrik Stenson trailed leader Phil Mickelson by five shots at the end of the first round, as he shot three under par, while the American shot eight under.

At that stage, the Swede was trailing behind 11 others – two shots behind both Martin Kaymer of Germany and the United States’ Patrick Reed, and one shot behind eight other players. Stenson and nine other players shot 68 at the end of round one.

A total of 50 players shot under par in perfect weather conditions in the first round of the tournament.

Phil Mickelson was close to becoming the first player in history to score 62 at a major. However, as the ball looked set to drop in, it lipped out to deny the American history. Instead he became the 28th player to score 63 at a major and had built a three-shot lead over his nearest rivals.

Stenson was now five shots behind the leader and must have been thinking he would need to produce something magical or hope for a Mickelson slip up to be within a chance of winning.

Second Round

Mickelson remained in the lead after the second round. However, in this round he had shot a score of 69, presenting an opportunity for the chasing pack to close the gap at the top.

Henrik Stenson used this as an opportunity to fight back, and did so by shooting 65, leaving him just one shot behind the leader.

He had moved within one shot of Mickleson by birdying the 16th hole, though failed to capitalise on an opportunity to take the lead in the final two holes.

Third Round

Phil Mickelson’s form continued to drift as he relinquished the lead by the end of the third round with a score of 70.

Stenson stepped up to become the new clubhouse leader by shooting 68, leaving him out in front by one shot.

The pair now had a comfortable lead over American Bill Haas, who was leading the chasing pack down in third place, but trailing Mickelson by five shots.

Final Round

Henrik Stenson produced his most memorable performance of the tournament in the final found, albeit a tightly contested affair with his rival.

Mickelson had scored 65, finishing the tournament with a score of 267. It would not be enough for the three-time Masters winner as his Swedish rival would produce the form of his life when he needed it most.

Stenson produced a record-breaking score of 63 in the final round, claiming his first major title with a three-shot victory.

Prior to 2016, Stenson had only ever finished as a majors runner-up once, as well as finishing in third place on four occasions. Victory represented his and Sweden’s first as a male at a major.

Spieth looks to defend Open Championship at Carnoustie

The 2018 Open Championship is set to begin on Thursday at Carnoustie in Scotland. Jordan Spieth is the defending champion after holding off Matt Kuchar in the final round at the Royal Birkdale Golf Club in 2017.

Online bookmaker novibet.co.uk lists Spieth at +2000 to defend the title while Dustin Johnson is the favorite at +1200. Other notable players are Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy at +1600; Rickie Fowler +1800; Jon Rahm and U.S. Open champion Brooks Koepka at +2000.

We recently added odds of Open Championship winners going as far back as 1979. Here are some notes from looking over the list of winners…

– Five of the last six champions have had odds of +4000 or less. Zach Johnson in 2015 was +8000.
– From 2009 to 2011 each winner was 125-1 or higher.
– The last time the Open was played at Carnoustie Padraig Harrington came in at +2500 and defeated Sergio Garcia in a playoff. Carnoustie was also the venue for the famous Jean Van de Velde meltdown in 1999.
– Over a 10-year stretch from 1995 – 2004 there were four players who were not listed and considered part of the ‘Field.' It's safe to say that each of these players were 100-1 are higher to win in their respective years.

While picking a long shot is appetizing the safe money is on selecting a player who is less than 50-1 at this year's Open Championship.

Footballs Coming Home! England Rank 1st Place for Winning the World Cup

Betting data from Betfair has revealed that Gareth Southgate’s side have been the most popular to back at the 2018 World Cup.

Confidence in the England football team has soared with a 11.21% majority of backing bets. This is up 27% on the 2014 World Cup.

The Three Lions booked their place in the quarter-finals on Tuesday with a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Colombia – the first time in World Cup history that our nation has won via spot kicks. Football fans took twitter by storm, tweeting their admiration for the team:

Melissa Reddy, Senior Football Correspondent, tweeted: “This is not a drill. England have won a penalty shootout. I repeat. England have won a penalty shootout.”

Gareth Southgate’s side are set to take on Sweden in the quarter-finals at the Samara Arena on Saturday. Many punters will have vast interest in the match as Betfair have revealed that 11.21% of total UK bets on the 2018 World Cup winner are on England – more than any other nation competing in Russia.

These back bets are from UK and were placed before the matches began, so any results after the World Cup started didn’t influence the result.

Football stat man, Barrie's View, says: “The increase in confidence is coming off the back of a successful qualifying campaign and results against the likes of Germany and Brazil in friendlies earlier this year. We also have superstar Harry Kane up front!”

This is also echoed internationally, with punters backing England (9.51%), followed by Germany (9.12%), and Belgium (6.93%).

Germany A Wurst Bet

Germany followed Gareth Southgate’s side with 9.12% of the total bets. However, the 2014 winners were eliminated at the group stage this summer.

Interestingly, Germany were only backed by 4.5% of Betfair’s customers four years ago, whereas runners-up Argentina were the most popular bet in Brazil – with 10.94% of the market.

After struggling to reach Russia this summer, Argentina saw much less backing this time around as only 4.54% of punters backed Jorge Sampaoli’s side. They were eliminated 4-3 by France in the second round on Saturday.

Along with England, who saw an increase from 8.81% to 11.21%, Croatia (1.19% to 4.65%), Russia (1.37% to 4.26%) and Portugal (3.64% to 6.56%) have all seen a big increase in bets from four years ago. And like Gareth Southgate’s side, Croatia and Russia will be competing in the quarter-finals this weekend. The two nations face each other to determine who will play England or Sweden in the semi-finals.

Fellow quarter-finalist Belgium were the third most popular bet pre-tournament. Roberto Martinez’s side take on favourites Brazil on Friday.
