Your Guide to Betting on the Premier League

The English Premier League, or EPL, is by far the world’s favourite soccer league. Watched by more than 4 billion people across the globe, and featuring some of soccer’s biggest superstars, the EPL is also one of the most popular leagues to place bets on. If you want to get in on the action, then stay right here for our top tips on how to make the most of your Premier League bet.

Premier League Basics

Before you start, here are a few things that you should know about the EPL. Each season, which runs from August to May, sees twenty teams competing. At the end of the season, the bottom three teams are relegated, exchanging places with the top three teams from the second-tier Championship division.

The top three teams earn money, glory and a place in the Champions League for the following season. Throughout the season, each team plays one home and one away game against each other – 38 in total. That’s plenty of soccer to place bets on.

Choosing the Right Betting Platform

Choosing where to make your betting account is vitally important, and will make the difference between a great and a mediocre experience. When making your choice, there are several factors to consider. A great betting site will have most or all of the following:

  • A licence from a trusted jurisdiction
  • Great odds on offer
  • User-friendly interface
  • Lots of different betting options
  • Live in-game betting

For help in finding a trustworthy platform for online sports betting Canada, use a resource like Casino Pilot as a guide. Many betting sites are part of a wider online casino platform, so you may wish to take into account the casino odds on offer as well as the sports betting side.

What Kind of Bets can you Place?

There’s a lot going on in the EPL, and the potential for placing bets is practically endless. Let’s break it down and look at the kinds of things that you can bet on.

    Long-term Bets

This kind of bet covers the whole season, and you can put money on things such as who you think will be the overall winners, who will get a Champions League place, who will be relegated, the top goal scorer of the season and plenty more.

When making long-term predictions, it is worth noting that only six teams have ever lifted the Premier League trophy, with Manchester United holding a record thirteen wins. Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester City come in far behind to take the next places. A bet on one of these big four teams may be safer, but it won’t be too profitable.

It’s not often that there’s a real upset, but the last time the bookies lost big time was in the 2015-16 season when rank outsiders Leicester City astounded everyone by blasting their way to the top, only to sink back to mid-table the following year.

Our top tip for a long forecast bet: Look at the teams that have been in the top five in the past few seasons, but have never actually won. This could be their time.

    Multiple Bets

Bet on various outcomes for two or more matches for bigger returns. Rather than placing three relatively safe bets individually, why not try linking them together so that you can only win if all three of your predictions are correct? This can turn low-profiting bets into a tidy return if you are smart about it.

Our top tip for a multiple bet: choose a market like ‘both teams to score’ and pick two or more matches in a set of fixtures in which you think both sides will get at least one in the net.

    Individual Bets and Live Betting

A great betting platform will offer a multitude of options to put your money on. The most popular individual bet is for the match winner. Correct score is harder to predict but still common, and many like to bet on who will score the first goal – both the team and the player.

Live betting is an exciting new way to get in on the action. Live odds change from moment to moment, and many betting sites now allow you to make many types of bet while the match is in progress. If it’s available, we highly recommend the use of the cashout option. This allows you to settle your bet early, based on the current odds, and minimize any potential losses.

Taking a Look Inside Defensive Player Prop Bets for NFL 2019

Going into the NFL season, almost all of the talk surrounding the season and player props features offensive stars. Today I want to break away from the mold and discuss a few defensive player props to check out for this upcoming season.

Tackle Leader

Last season, Darius Leonard burst onto the scene as the league leader in tackles and he really captured this title by a landslide. Going into this season, Leonard is the favorite at +550, but his odds are still rather odd.

If you look at the tackle leaders of the last decade, you will not find a single back-to-back leader. Luke Kuechly has done it multiple times, but not in consecutive years. I do think that this is a bit misleading though. There are often guys that show up in the top 5 consistently, like another player that we will discuss in a minute.

I do like laying a bit down on Darius Leonard at +550 to become a repeat leader. The Colts defense is in a fantastic position to see a lot of plays this year. Leonard should still be growing as a player and the only difference could be the addition of 3rd round pick Bobby Okereke. I am not concerned that Okereke’s addition to the linebacking core is going to change Leonards production this season.

The other player at the top of the board is Blake Martinez at +1200. Martinez has had 144 tackles in back-to-back seasons, which is good for 1st in 2017 and 2nd in 2018. This consistent production as an elite option here is just too low at +1200.

Sack Leader

Sacks are another statistic that can fluctuate a lot year over year because gameplans and teammate support can change drastically. Aaron Donald is the favorite for this title at +300 after a dominant 20.5 sacks last season.

I like Donald at +300 because I think that the way he gets sacks is relatively tough for certain teams to stop. Last season, Donald seemed to feast on poor offensive lines and I think that this was because they had no way to contain him, even when they gameplanned for it. As a tackle on this list, Donald has a different skill set and toolbox than most players on the list, which makes him unique to defend.

If you want to go for a longer shot here, I really like Joey Bosa at +2200. In his second season in the NFL, Bosa had 12.5 sacks. He began last season injured, but returned to have 5.5 sacks in just 6 starts last season.

On the Chargers, he has good defensive play around him, especially with Melvin Ingram on the other side of the line taking some pressure off. Also, the Chargers look to be a top end team who should force a lot of dropbacks this season to trailing teams. Bosa has the talent and team to flash this season.

Interception Leader

Determining the interception leader is like picking a rabbit out of your hat and the odds would suggest that as the highest odds are Kyle Fuller at +2500. That being said, I want to take guys a bit further down the board here that could prove to be in good situations to get interceptions. I preferably want to take someone on a good team that has a good pass rush, because those are the two things that lead to opponents making mistakes in the pass game.

Denzel Ward was banged up for a lot of the second half of the season, but he came down with 3 interceptions in the first 5 weeks of the season as a rookie. I think that the Browns defense should be improved and I think that Ward’s elite speed should make him a great candidate for a breakout season at +4000.

Damontae Kazee is my other pick at +4000 again. Kazee had a breakthrough season in his second year in the NFL with 7 interceptions on a defense that was riddled with injuries. I expect the Falcons to be improved from a year ago and playing in a division with Jameis Winston and Cam Newton could help.

Take a look at all of these bets and many more when you head to the leader in pay per head bookie, at www.A1PPH.com.

NFL Futures Betting: Odds to win NFC North

The NFC North is one of the most hotly contested divisions in football with three teams between +180 and +210 to win the division. The Lions are on the outside looking in at +1200, but the Bears, Packers, and Vikings are all very live to win this division.

Chicago Bears (+180)

The Bears ended up running away with this division at 12-4 last season, but it is viable to expect a bit of regression from all three of these teams. The Bears find themselves with a lot of returning starters, but no sign of Vic Fangio, who darted off to Denver after their wildly successful regular season.

I expect the key to this season to be exactly how dynamic this offense can become. The Bears saw more success early in games and early in the season offensively. This was likely because their young core of players struggle to be prepared for an entire gameplan. The Bears would come out and strike early, but not too often after that by comparison.

There have been reports early in Bears camp that suggested that Mitch Trubisky was still struggling installing new concepts into the offense. This is definitely a concern based on these trends from last season. Recently, there have been more positive reports, but I’m still a bit unsure of how this offense will operate.

That being said, the defensive core on this team is very strong and the odds are too good to pass up. A 12-4 teams being +180 to repeat with most of their best players back is something that I can’t pass up.

Green Bay Packers (+195)

The Packers come into this season with a new head coach and a new system that should be really interesting to watch. Aaron Rodgers is notorious for being skeptical and outspoken in the media, something that has already come to the surface early in the preseason.

The Packers offense should be solid as always this season due to elite play from Aaron Rodgers and Devante Adams. The big question is how can the line and secondary options can perform. Aaron Jones has flashed and is assumed to be the lead back in the system, but we still don’t know just how good this offense can be.

I really give the Packers front office a lot of credit for drafting pretty well after paying Aaron Rodgers and leveraging their overall team talent. That being said, it is still not an elite defense and it will give up points. This is where the Bears should have a distinct advantage on the Packers.

I am much more confident in the Bears offense scoring on the Packers than vice versa. The Packers should be in a lot of close games and their season will likely depend on 4-6 drives at the end of games.

Minnesota Vikings (+210)

The Vikings were very disappointing last season and I expect a rebound offensively with so much talent on that side of the ball. Dalvin Cook, Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen, and Kyle Rudolph is a really good group of skill players and Kirk Cousins has done more with less talent before.

The Vikings defense has struggled to return to truly elite form, but they still have plenty of talent to do so this season. I expect a rebound from a slight disappointment last season while their offense is much improved

The line is a bit too short here, but I like the Vikings as a playoff sleeper in the NFC at +120.

Detroit Lions (+1200)

The Lions are not elite on either side of the ball and they just lack the elite playmakers that the other three teams definitely have. Someone like Kenny Golladay has the chance to make a leap with rookie tight end T.J. Hockensen, but I still don’t think they will have the ability to put it all together, especially in a division with three above average football teams in it.

There is a look at the NFC North for the 2019 season. Bet the favorite Bears or the underdog Lions, but whoever you bet, make sure your bookie chooses the best Pay Per Head.

How Sports Betting is Changing

Sports betting really has been one of the most popular types of betting. Traditionally, betters would have their personal bookmaker who would take all of their bets, regardless of what sport it is. So much has changed since then, and now there’s also been a huge growth in technology too. This has influenced how people place their bets and in this day and age, you don’t even need to leave the house in order to make money.

Online Betting and Crypto

Online betting has significantly changed the sporting industry. It has also widened the appeal of betting too because it’s now way more convenient to do and you don’t need to have any specialist knowledge. If you have access to a smartphone then you can place your bet on the go, and you can even download apps to make the whole process easier. Technology is always evolving and now there are even newer websites available to help you place your online bet. One of the latest trends is Bitcoin betting. A number of online sports sites are now allowing people to bet with this currency. The idea of cryptocurrency is that it only exists online. As more and more sites start to accept Bitcoin as payment, the industry continues to change, and this is a significant step forward. There are some advantages to using Bitcoin to place your bet too, some of them being that Bitcoin is more secure and in some instances, it is faster to use. It’s not just sport betting sites that are allowing cryptocurrency usage either. In fact, there are plenty of online casinos that have adopted it too. This has led to a surge in online betting and it is also changing the industry for the better. So how do people go from their local bookmaker to betting online from their mobile device? The journey has happened really gradually, but that being said, you can point out some milestones. Originally, it was the IOT that kicked everything off. Soon after, online payments started to become more and more common. Bookmakers saw the chance to take advantage of this rapid transformation and started to give people the chance to bet online. The problem? People wanted to bet because it’s now way more accessible, but they didn’t know how. That’s when sites started to list opportunities, such as playing online video poker for fun and even giving people fake currency so that they could bet and see what results they could get. This then led to a huge boom in the industry and it is one of the many reasons why it is as big as it is today.

Non-Conventional Sports

One of the most noticeable changes that has happened in the industry is the addition of non-conventional sports. Fantasy leagues and even eSports have started to surface, and they are certainly gaining traction. This is having a huge impact on the way that people bet, and it has also encouraged more people to become invested in its future. The best thing about fantasy leagues is that you can become as invested as you want with your team. You can be hands-on and set your team each week according to real-life situations or you can take a step back and manage it minimally. Either way, the idea of a fantasy league is certainly appealing to those who have a keen interest in sport, and it is just another example of how betting is becoming intertwined with technology as a whole. A lot of people have even started to place bets on their teams to make the sport more exciting and way more competitive. if you need some help choosing your team then you’ll be glad to know that there are plenty of ways for you to get the help you need, and people have even released strategy guides. There are even some sporting websites who have started their own platform so that people can create a fantasy team on their site. This makes it way easier for people to play against others and it also helps them to win money and prizes too.

eSports

As mentioned above, eSports are changing the industry too. Interestingly enough, eSports are not really that well-known outside of the gaming world. They are however becoming more and more popular by the year. Electronic sports are a part of the online competitive gaming world. Players need to compete against one another in order to improve their ranking. This also gives them the chance to win prize money too. If you are super committed to gaming, then it is even possible for you to reach a professional rank. These matches happen to be watched by people across the world, and thousands of fans stream them through sites such as Twitch. This gives gamers the chance to connect with other people across the world, showcasing their gaming skills while also being able to chat at the same time. It’s this standard of technology that is helping people to become more invested in online platforms, and believe it or not, it is having an impact on the way that people bet. As more options become available, more appeal is generated and the cycle continues.

Betting has become part of this culture. People are really cashing in on the idea of being able to bet on players that they actually know personally. In some instances, these games are even being shown on television. This is going to step the gaming industry up to that next level and it is also going to make it easier for people to delve into the world of gambling through different means.

So, it’s pretty obvious that sports betting has changed a lot so far, and there’s a high chance that it will continue to change too. Technology is evolving and some trends that you need to watch out for include, the popularity of fantasy leagues, online sports and even the idea of using cryptocurrency to place bets. If changes like this keep on coming into effect, then this would make for an interesting scene.

Looking for a New Pay Per Head Software Provider?

Are you considering making a switch to a new pay-per-head (PPH) software provider?

There are numerous reasons why bookies switch PPH services. In some cases, they have to due to the service closing down, other times it’s because the bookies wants an improved solution.

While all PPH services offer the same features for the most part, the level of service you receive from each service varies a lot and receiving poor service is a main reason bookies switch PPH providers.

Tips to Follow When Seeking Out a New Pay Per Head Solution

The following are some simple tips to use when you’re looking for a new PPH software provider. You don’t want to end up having to continually search for new solutions.

Spend some time finding the right PPH service, so you don’t have to change providers again.

  • Try the Support: Make sure you communicate with the support reps prior to committing to a PPH service. You want to find out how knowledgeable and responsive the reps are.
  • Check the Features: Some features available at PPH services aren’t available everywhere. It’s important to make sure everything you need is available before joining a new service.
  • Read Reviews: 1000s of bookies use PPH services and there are plenty of reviews online at the various betting forums and websites. You can learn about a service by reading the reviews.
  • Try the Free Trial: There is typically a free trial that lasts several weeks at PPH shops. This is to give bookies an opportunity to try the full service without committing any money.

Generally the free trial is four weeks at most PPH shops. You have full access to every feature during the free trial and you can sign-up as many of your players as you want without any costs.

Some bookies will bring over a few players initially to ensure everything is working fine and that the players are happy with the software, odds and support provided by the PPH shop.

Once you know you’ll be staying with the service, you can onboard the rest of your players. As a new bookie, saving money anywhere is important and you’ll save a lot with a four week free trial.

Let’s say you have 10 players and the PPH service costs $10/head per week. You’ll be saving $100 per week and a total of $400 over the entire four week free trial period.

You won’t find a better offer than a 4 week free trial, so don’t delay, sign up today. If a PPH service doesn’t offer a free trial, I’d actually be cautious about joining the service.

There’s really no reason for a PPH service not to offer a free trial. They want to attract long-term bookies that aren’t going to close down after being in business for a few short months.

If you’re ready to change PPH software providers, make sure you do your due diligence. The easiest way to do this is by utilizing a free trial offer to test out the software and additional features.

Will Tiger Woods win his 16th Major in 2020?

Photo by Keith Allison / CC BY-SA 2.0

The Man, The Myth, The (Living) Legend

Tiger Woods: a name synonymous with record-breaking, crowd-pleasing golf greatness. Ironically, he’s the legend that young elite pros grew up idolizing. But the past several years have been riddled with question marks for Woods, now 43, who struggled for a long stretch to play competitively with the PGA’s new crop of young superstars. Fans and sports analysts have found plenty to debate regarding Tiger’s chances of making it back to the top amid such an elite group of younger, fitter players—and many have longed to see him get close to another major, huddling around the television whenever Tiger is in contention.

So, when he won the Masters at Augusta National in April (his first major win in 11 years), he celebrated in memorable fashion with his loved ones and caddy as cheers from the crowd pierced the air—and analysts got somewhat of an answer to their question. Yes, Tiger can still win majors. Yes, he can compete with the likes of Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, and Brooks Koepka. In April, he helped to define himself as a living legend—one who has unfinished business with the record books and who still has a competitive chip on his shoulder. Yet, even as Tiger donned another green jacket at Augusta, analysts and media personalities were already speculating whether he could replicate the performance. Clearly, the pressure has been immense.

The “Old” Tiger vs. “The 2019 Tiger”

Since the Masters, Tiger has struggled; he missed the cut at both the PGA Championship and The Open Championship, and only a few days ago he withdrew from The Northern Trust at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey due to injury. His current #6 World Golf Ranking could be in jeopardy, to be sure. Furthermore, the inconsistency of his performance—along with injuries and lingering back issues—has made Tiger’s game difficult to anticipate. We’ve grown accustomed, during his 11-year majors slump, of seeing Tiger miss cuts or be forced to withdraw from tournaments due to injury (or re-injury). However, after his performance at the Masters, expectations have risen, and viewers have wondered whether “the old Tiger” is back for real.

The past few months since the Masters haven’t given much of an indication that Tiger is consistently playing on the level he was in April, though the role of injuries could certainly be a large factor in that. In any case, the year has given us very mixed signals about Tiger’s game, health, and consistency, all of which will be critical determining factors in his ability to reach the top again. Reports claim that Woods’ withdrawal from The Northern Trust was due to injury, but it is unknown whether Woods was also dealing with any pain or discomfort when he failed to make the cut at the PGA and The Open Championships.

Narrowing the Odds

Perhaps predicting Tiger’s success is akin to predicting who will make the NFL playoffs instead of trying to predict a specific Super Bowl winner. Tiger has shown that he still has elite golf in him, and on a given day, he’s likely to give the PGA’s elite all they can handle. However, it’s always difficult to tell which Tiger Woods will show up on the course—and equally as difficult to discern whether that Tiger will be present for 18 holes, much less the entire tournament.

That said, Tiger is clearly no slouch. It would be a bit irresponsible to completely write off an athlete who has fought his way back from injury so many times and, in many cases, has re-solidified himself as a top contender. After all, he’s solidly in the top-10-ranked golfers in the world. But aside from his history of injuries—including those that still affect him daily—as well as his inconsistency on the course, another factor stands as a roadblock to Tiger’s 16th major: Father Time.

A Year Older, A Year Wiser?

Caption: Is Tiger running out of time?

Of course, we’ve seen professional golfers have success at ages older than Tiger’s. After all, Julius Boros—the oldest man to win a major—won the PGA Championship at 48 years old. Still, at 43, one can imagine that the pressure is reaching new heights as Tiger, along with the rest of us, wonders to what degree he’s running out of time. Tiger is clearly fit and, outside of acute injuries, is in good health. Yet, one must wonder about the emotional and cognitive toll that such pressure imparts, as well as the slowing of reaction time that can occur with aging. Meanwhile, Woods’ 20-something counterparts—though they are clearly not as experienced as Woods—enjoy the health of youth (before the injury list reaches double-digits).

As much as I’d like to see Tiger finish his career on a high note—that is, with another major title—it will be a long, difficult path if it’s to happen at all. It’s no longer “the field against Tiger,” and the guys at the top know there’s a handful of players who could show up with a sharper game at any tournament. The threat is no longer just from Tiger—as several newcomers have emerged to fill the power gap during Tiger’s “absence”—and no singular figure stands head-and-shoulders above the field in 2019 (which is great for fans).

That said, I don’t see Woods fighting through the likes of Koepka, Johnson, Thomas, and McIlroy in 2020 (not in a major, anyway). There are just too many roadblocks and unknowns, and it would be a tough ask of Tiger, particularly if he’s still battling injuries, to show up in top form early next year.

Beyond 2020? It’s hard to say. I think Tiger has at least a few years left in him, and I doubt he’ll be quick to call it quits, so 2020 probably isn’t his last shot at winning another major. In fact, given his track record of recuperation, rehabilitation, and ambition, it’s possible that we’ll still see Tiger contending at age 50. It wouldn’t “shake the earth” again to see Tiger win a major next year, but it’s more likely that 2020 will be a revelatory one in Woods’ career. He’s proven to himself and the world that he’s still a championship-caliber player, and, after 11 years of only wishing, one would think that his Masters win would rejuvenate any lost motivation. While I don’t think Woods wins a major next year, I think he gets close. How he handles those pressure situations—and how often he deals with injury—will determine his chances for 2021.

Come for the Free Trial – Stay for the Awesome Service

Did you know you can start a bookie with zero initial investment in any infrastructure? We talk about pay-per-head (PPH) services regularly, but we often don’t discuss the free trials available.

The majority of PPH services all offer a free trial. Typically, new bookies will receive a free trial for the first four weeks of the business, allowing you to get settled and get your players signed up.

PPH services open new accounts instantly these days. Once you sign-up at a PPH website, your free trial will begin immediately, so you’ll want to take advantage by moving quickly.

You don’t require any experience either. PPH services will set everything up for you, including a free custom website where your players will be able to sign-up for an account to start betting.

Benefits of a PPH Bookie Free Trial

Let’s take a look at the benefits when you take advantage of a free trial.

  • Zero Risk: You don’t need to pay any money to get started or sign a contract. If you aren’t happy with the service or you decided against pursuing this business, there’s no problem.
  • Test the Software: What’s better than hands on experience? With a free trial, you don’t even necessarily need to sign-up real players until you know you want to use the service. You can create fake accounts to test the capabilities of the software and reporting features.
  • Test the Support: You’ll likely be in contact with support often when you initially join a PPH service because they help you with setting everything up. You can find out quickly whether the support is going to meet your needs during the free trial period.

There’s no downside to a free 4-week trial with a PPH bookie solution. If you end up liking the service and want to stay, you’ve also saved four months of PPH fees, which can add up quickly.

Despite free trials being readily available, you still want to join the highest rated services because it’s most likely they’ll meet your needs and there’s a better chance you’ll continue the service.

You don’t want to spend months testing out free trials at multiple companies if you don’t need to. The sooner you find a suitable PPH solution, the sooner you can start growing your business.

The most important thing to test out when signing up for a free trial is the support. You want to find a PPH shop where you’ll be treated well and provided with quick support when required.

Bookies rely heavily on PPH providers. Not only do the PPH services provide the software, odds and support, but they also need to keep everything working and secured.

There are no limitations on free trial accounts either. You can sign-up all of your players and use the full suite of tools to run your business. There’s no commitment either. If you decide that you don’t want to keep the service, you simply cancel the service before the free trial is over.

Playtech launches three live casino games

Top iGaming developer, Playtech is at it again. When they revealed plans to release and focus on the live casino gaming industry, we are sure it was going to be big and newsworthy in a good way. And we were right. The software developer has released three live casino games in total. The three new games launched by Playtech are two brand new versions of the live Roulette and a reworked edition of the Hi-Lo game by Playtech.

The brand new versions of the live Roulette titles are based on the American Roulette which is a very popular and increased-margin double-zero version in addition to spread-bet play. This is the reason why the new name of these two releases by Playtech is called Spread-Bet Roulette. Spread-Bet Roulette brings to you a fresh new twist to the Roulette offerings by Playtech in a live casino as well as in other ways. The American Roulette from Playtech is brand new and it is a high-end variant of roulette which can be streamed from Playtech Live’s luxury Grand Royale room. The game features the double zero roulette wheel which is a perfect compliment to the gaming software already existing wide range of table games. This helps evokes a sense of uniqueness with its heightened UX feel and look which makes the game seem real.

The software developer says Spread-Bet Roulette will also come with other interesting features like thrilling side-bets which is sure to add to the enjoyment of the various players of the game.
