NBA Draft Betting Preview

Whether the NBA draft is next month or somewhere near the end of summer, there is plenty of speculation as to how the order of players selected will shake out. Since there is no consensus number one pick like Zion Williamson last season, it's more than likely that the teams picking at the top will determine how the draft falls.

Today, we're looking at five of the top prospects in the NBA draft, along with their current odds on their draft position.

SG Anthony Edwards, Georgia

According to many NBA betting experts, Edwards is the best scorer in the draft. Standing at 6'4″ but with a long wingspan and strong athleticism, the freshman averaged 19.1 points per game and has the ability to shoot from three as well as defend multiple positions on the other end. His signature moment with Georgia was scoring 33 points in a half against Michigan State, elevating him into contention for the number one pick.

As of now, Edwards is the favorite to be the first overall pick at +100. He's also the favorite at +150 to be the second pick, showing how oddsmakers feel it's likely that we'll hear Edwards' name called early during draft day.

C James Wiseman, Memphis

Due to a suspension for violating NCAA rules, which led to him deciding to depart Memphis altogether, Wiseman only suited up for three games this season, averaging just under 20 points and 11 rebounds. But even without a real college season, the 7'1″ athlete moves well and can finish above the rim while also being a solid rim protector on defense. He also has a capable offensive game on the perimeter.

Wiseman's selection might really depend on if a team needs a big man, but he is still +180 to be the first pick. He's also second to be the second pick at +250 and the third pick at +300, so it would not be surprising at all to see him go within the top-three picks.

PG LaMelo Ball, Australia

The youngest of the three Ball brothers, LaMelo may be the most polarizing prospect in this class. Now standing at 6'7″, Ball averaged 17 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7 assists during his professional season in Australia, showcasing his elite passing and play-making ability. While his basketball IQ is the best among these prospects, an inconsistent shot and questions about his defense (and dad) may keep him from being the first selection.

Ball is currently third at +300 to be this year's number one pick and also tied with Wiseman at +250 to be the second pick. He is, however, the favorite at +250 to be the third pick and +300 to be the fourth pick, so in spite of the concerns he will go early.

SF Deni Avdija, Israel

Avdija is in some ways the draft's biggest mystery. Standing at 6'8″, the small forward has reminded some of Luka Doncic due to his passing ability. He's one of the draft's best shooters, especially from long range, and has the ability to create his own shot in the half court. However, Avdija struggles defensively, as he lacks some of the strength and power needed to effectively guard NBA players his size on the wing or down low.

As of now, Avdija is +550 to be taken with the first overall pick, the fourth-highest odds. Interestingly, his odds of being the draft's second or third pick are fairly low, but he's the third-highest to go fourth at +400 and tied for the highest at +400 to go fifth.

PF Obi Toppin, Dayton

Toppin has shot into the conversation to be a high lottery pick after a season that culminated with being named the Naismith Player of the Year. The 6'9″ forward averaged 20 points for the Flyers on 63 percent shooting and 7.5 rebounds per game. He's a dominant athlete who can score from three, and has the size to guard multiple positions. However, he does need to improve his strength to guard at a high level.

Like Avdija, it would be a surprise to see Toppin taken first overall, as he's listed at +550. He is a little more likely though to be the second or third overall pick, listed at +400 and +300 respectively. Among these five players, Toppin seems to have the widest window of picks that he can go, likely anywhere from second to sixth overall.

Tamina Has a Chance to Win at WWE Money in the Bank 2020

The majority of the matches for WWE Money in the Bank are next Sunday at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, with no audience. The two Money in the Bank matches will be at the same time at WWE Headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. In this article, we break down the SmackDown Women's Championship match between Tamina and Bayley and share the betting odds for the event.

Tamina Has a Shot

WWE has teased a feud between Bayley and Sasha Banks for over a year. This is not just something that was done in recent months. It seems like we will be getting a match between them at SummerSlam if fans can be in attendance.

Bayley indirectly cost Banks to lose her match at WrestleMania 36 and also was the reason why she lost her a spot at Money in the Bank, both times against Lacey Evans.

To me, Banks should have been in the Women's Money in the Bank match and won it. I would have made her tease cashing it in on the Raw or NXT Women’s Champions before eventually shocking Bayley out of nowhere when she least expected it but it seems that WWE's plans are different.

I can see Banks attacking Bayley after her match with Tamina on Sunday. Banks could even help Tamina win the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

The Bayley-Sasha Banks feud should be for the SmackDown Women’s Championship but Tamina would be a deserving champ. She should win the title as a reward for her loyal service to WWE all these years. Besides, she could drop it to Bayley in a rematch and we could still have the Bayley-Sasha Banks feud for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. I am making a small bet on Tamina +275 just for fun.

WWE Championship Match

Drew McIntyre -600
Seth Rollins +350

SmackDown Women’s Championship Match

Bayley -450
Tamina +275

WWE Universal Championship Match

Braun Strowman -120
Bray Wyatt -120

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way Match

The New Day +100
John Morrison & The Miz +125
The Forgotten Sons +250
Lucha House Party +500

Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match

Shayna Baszler -150
Nia Jax +300
Lacey Evans +400

The Richest Racehorses: Which horses have won the most money?

The best racehorses do not always earn the most money. For example, the world-famous Frankel retired, having amassed around $3.6 million. That may sound like a considerable amount of money, but it pales into insignificance when it is compared to the highest-earning horses of all time. There is no doubt about it. There are some very rich racehorses out there, or at least, there would be if they got to keep their winnings. Here are the top five racehorses from around the world who have won the most money.

After winning four Grade One races at the age of four, the American thoroughbred Gun Runner was named American Horse of the Year in 2017. After his performance in the Whitney Stakes that year, Gun Runner became ranked third place in the World’s Best Racehorse Rankings. And after winning the Woodward Stakes that year, Gun Runner received a Timeform US rating of 142, which is the highest ever achieved. The other Grade One races he won in 2017 were the Stephen Foster Handicap and the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Gun Runner retired after 2017, with total earnings of just under $16 million.

2. Thunder Snow

The only two-time winner of the Dubai World Cup, in 2018 and 2019, Thunder Snow retired in 2019 with eight wins out of 24 career stats. The Irish-bred horse began his two-year-old season in 2016, in a six-furlong maiden race at Leicester Racecourse in England. Ridden by jockey James Doyle, Thunder Snow started the race with odds of 4/1. He readily won by one-and-a-quarter lengths. By the end of his two-year-old season, the thoroughbred was given a rating of 118 by the official European Classification, which made him the best horse of his age trained in Britain and the third-best juvenile in Europe. Thunder Snow continued to have many successes until he retired in 2019 at the age of five. He went into retirement, having won an astonishing $16,511,476.

1. Arrogate

The American thoroughbred Arrogate won the 2016 Travers Stakes with a new track record in his very first professional appearance. In 2017, as a three-year-old horse, he went on to incredibly win three of the races with the most monetary wins on the planet, within the space of four months. Arrogate won The Breeders’ Cup Classic, the Pegasus World Cup, and the Dubai World Cup. Despite then returning to the United States and suffering three defeats before he retired with seven wins to his name, Arrogate holds the record for the biggest prize money ever won. Over his short career, Arrogate earned a staggering $17,422,600.

NFC West Draft Review

With the NFL draft in the rear view, now is a time for reflection on each team’s individual class. While it may be too early to give a full-on grade and assessment, we can see how each team did in terms of filling needs while also finding value with each pick.

Today, we’re taking a closer look at the NFC West to see how all four teams came out of the weekend.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals only had two picks through the first two days of the draft, but certainly made them count. In the first round, Arizona managed to land Clemson LB Isaiah Simmons with the eighth overall selection. Simmons is the most unique defender in the class, with his athleticism and ability to play multiple positions on the field. He will give his new team many different ways to use him however they so choose.

Arizona didn’t own their second round selection this year, a product of acquiring DeAndre Hopkins from the Texans last month. But early in round three, they still managed to find help along the offensive line in Houston OT Josh Jones. As someone who was almost a consensus pick to be a late-first round pick, Jones fell to pick No. 72, but will be an instant improvement at right tackle for the Cards.

On day three, the Cardinals went with bolstering their defensive line, adding Utah DT Leki Fotu and LSU Rashard Lawrence. Each of them will provide depth and give Arizona one of the bigger d-lines in football. They finished off their NFL draft with Cal LB Evan Weaver, who will play a special teams role early on, and then went local with Arizona State RB Eno Benjamin, who gives them more depth at the position.

There may have been no team in football that got better value on their first two picks than the Cardinals. With Simmons a projected top-four pick and Jones taken over 40 spots after he was projected, Arizona net value with need and came out with two day one starters. In addition, they continued to build depth at other important positions, giving a Cardinals a very good draft.

Los Angeles Rams

Once again, the Rams spent day one of the draft watching everyone else make selections. L.A. did not have a first round selection for the fourth straight season, this year’s pick given to Jacksonville in exchange for Jalen Ramsey last fall.

Day two, however, was a busy one for the Rams, who had two selections each in rounds two and three. In the second round, they targeted skill position players from the “Sunshine State”, drafting Florida State RB Cam Akers and Florida WR Van Jefferson. Akers is in the mix for touches in a backfield that is now without Todd Gurley, while Jefferson will be a solid outside option for them. The next round, Los Angeles found strong value with both of their selections. First, they used pick No. 84 on Alabama EDGE Terrell Lewis, who was expected to be a second rounder, and 20 picks later found a solid nickel option in Utah S Terrell Burgess.

On the final day, the Rams continued to find value with a fourth round pickup of Purdue TE Brycen Hopkins, who projects as their tight end of the future. Ohio State S Jordan Fuller was grabbed in the sixth round and will add more depth at safety. With the draft winding down, L.A. used their three seventh round picks on Baylor ILB Clay Johnston, Miami (OH) K Sam Sloman, and Clemson OG Tremayne Anchrum.

Given that the Rams once again didn’t have a first round pick, they did a good job making the most out of what they had. Their first four picks, especially Akers and Jefferson, should contribute in some capacity this season. Overall, GM Les Snead put together another solid draft class.

San Francisco 49ers

The defending NFC champions came into the draft with two first round selections, the higher of which (No. 13) was acquired from the Colts in the DeForest Buckner deal. San Francisco made the draft’s first trade, moving down one spot and taking South Carolina DT Javon Kinlaw, who aims to be Buckner’s immediate replacement. Then with their next pick at No. 31, GM John Lynch swung another trade, this one a move up to No. 25, and selected Arizona State WR Brandon Aiyuk. After passing on both Jerry Jeudy and CeeDee Lamb in favor of Kinlaw, the Niners are hoping Aiyuk will be the speedy downfield threat that they need at wide receiver.

With the move up for Aiyuk and previous trades for WR Emmanuel Sanders and EDGE Dee Ford, San Francisco did not own any second or third round picks. They also didn’t own any fourth round picks, but their day three was eventful as all can be.

The biggest trade of the trade came early Saturday, when the 49ers acquired Redskins All-Pro tackle Trent Williams in exchange for a fifth round pick and next year’s third round pick. The disgruntled Williams will become the team’s new left tackle, replacing the retired Joe Staley and making a good offensive line even better. During the day, they made two more trades in an effort to acquire draft capital, sending RB Matt Brenda to the Dolphins in exchange for a fifth round pick, and shipping WR Marquise Goodwin to the Eagles for a sixth.

With the pick they acquired from Miami, the Niners drafted West Virginia OT Colton McKivitz, who projects as a solid starting guard in the NFL. Georgia TE Charlie Woerner was their next selection and gives them much-needed depth behind George Kittle. Finally, the Goodwin trade helped the, draft Tennessee WR Jauan Jennings, a big receiver to give them more depth.

Overall, even with all the trades, San Francisco still managed to land two starters in Kinlaw and Aiyuk. Their additional picks provide depth, and the trade for Williams gives them a new franchise tackle. It was a very good draft for the Niners.

Seattle Seahawks

Normally, we see the Seahawks move out of the first round to acquire more picks. However, picking 27th overall, they opted to hold onto their first round selection and drafted Texas Tech LB Jordyn Brooks. Brooks is one of the better athletes in the draft and will likely start at one of the outside linebacker positions for Seattle, although some experts believe he was more of a day two player.

The next day, Seattle addressed both of their lines. With pick No. 48, they selected Tennessee DE Darrell Taylor, who will be a quick edge rusher in their rotation. Their next pick was for the offensive line, drafting big LSU OG Damien Lewis to help give them additional depth in the interior of the line.

With strength the emphasis in the first three rounds, Seattle spent much of the day Saturday targeting skill players. They started off with Stanford TE Colby Parkinson in the fourth round, who will compete with several tight ends currently on the roster. 11 picks later, they went with Miami RB DeeJay Dallas. After taking their one defensive player of the day in Syracuse DE Alton Robinson, the Seahawks capped off their draft class with Florida WR Freddie Swain, who can work in the slot for them, and LSU WR Stephen Sullivan, whom they gave up next year’s sixth round pick for in order to acquire this year.

Seattle did a good job filling certain needs, as Brooks certainly will play an integral part on their defense this season. Their biggest knock was on value, where a few players were taken ahead of their projections. But with the perennial success of this franchise, it’s fair to give them the benefit of the doubt.

NBA Suspension Benefits Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers were dealing with many injuries before the NBA suspension because of the coronavirus pandemic. Will this benefit Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons?

The Sixers struggled without their two stars. This is not surprising because Embiid and Simmons have a big presence on both sides of the court.

This was evident in the team's recent losses against the Clippers and Lakers. The Sixers rank 6th in the league, allowing 107.4 points per game but they allowed 117.6 points in five games without Embiid and Simmons.

The Clippers and Lakers took advantage of a depleted 76ers team. The high-usage of players like Montrezl Harrell and Anthony Davis was a smart move for those teams and it evidenced that the 76ers lack size without Embiid.

These two teams shot a combined 45.6 percent from 3-point range in those games. Would that have happened with Ben Simmons on the court. We will never know but what we saw without him proves that perimeter defense can be an issue for this team.

Embiid returned in the 124-106 home win against the Pistons on March 11th, just before the NBA season was suspended and he played extremely well, scoring 30 points with 14 rebounds in 27 minutes. It was against a weak Pistons team but Embiid was a difference-maker.

Ben Simmons missed the last eight games with a back injury and he was gradually increasing the activities in his strength and conditioning program.

“There’s no timeline on it,” Simmons said on March 11th. “Whenever I’m back, I’m back. Whenever I’m 100 percent, I’m coming back. I’m not here to sit and just wait. When I’m healthy, I’ll be playing.”

According to the 23-year-old, he feels no pain in his back and hasn’t considered surgery.

“To know where I am compared to two weeks ago, I feel much, much better,” Simmons said. “I’m very confident.”

The 76ers won’t have to rush back their two star players for the first round of the playoffs once the season resumes. Embiid and Simmons might not play together efficiently but their combined absences evidence that the 76ers missed their presence at both ends of the court.

Five best NFL Draft Prop Bets

Baltimore Ravens selecting an offensive player in the first round (+120)

We have talked about this before and it remains one of my favorite props for the draft. The Ravens actually take offensive players in the first round quite often and I think with the additions of Derek Wolfe and Calais Campbell this offseason on the defensive side, they will go offense early again.

Personally, I think they should take a wide receiver and Baylor’s Denzel Mims or Clemson’s Tee Higgins should both still be available after there is a run on receivers in the top half of the first round. I like the build of both Higgins and Mims as both are big wide receivers that can play opposite of Hollywood Brown who is an A-B guy. Either of these rooks could be used as a possession receiver to hopefully keep tight end Mark Andrews a little fresher.

The other option that Baltimore should entertain is Michigan offensive lineman Cesar Ruiz. Ruiz is a fantastic interior lineman who also played for coach John Harbaugh’s brother Jim in college. Since franchises have not been able to evaluate as they normally would prior to the draft, it would make sense.

Tristan Wirfs to be the first offensive lineman drafted (+100)

Even money what might the easiest prop bet on the board outside of Joe Burrow going first overall? Yes, please.

Wirfs is a 6’5, 320-pound tackle out Iowa who is a day-1 starter in the NFL. He is a former Big Ten Offensive lineman of the year and an All-American. There are other high-level linemen in this draft but Wirfs is the safest bet in my opinion.

Jeffery Okudah as the third overall selection (-140)

Normally, I would look for wagers where I don’t have to pay a vig but this one feels too easy. Okudah, along with Chase Young and Joe Burrow seem to have been atop mock drafts for weeks where almost every pick after #3 has had a different name slotted there each time.

Okudah is a big corner at 6’1 200lbs and comes from a school in Ohio State that churns out high-end cornerbacks at a rate similar to Jimmy Johns cranking out sandwiches. Since 1999, the Buckeyes have had 10 corners drafted in the first round. Okudah is a Jim Thorpe award winner and an All-American, he has good hands, speed and instincts. He has been described as “a GM’s dream prospect.”

You can make a few extra bucks by betting on Okudah being draft before the 4.5 selection as well. That wager pays out at (-135)

Alabama players taken in the first round: Over 5.5 (+130)

This one is a little dicey but I think that five of them are locks. Trevon Diggs becomes the player to make this a winning wager. You are going to have to sweat this one out but he should go in the last three or four selections in the first round.

Diggs is a former wide receiver and like Okudah is a big corner with speed.Again, this is probably the longest shot on the list but at +130 it is worth a little sprinkle.
Green Bay Packers select a defensive player with their first pick (+200)
In my humble opinion, they should go with a wide receiver here and if Brandon Aiyuk slides to them than this wager is probably toast but if he is gone I think they will go with a front seven defender. They won’t pick again until #62 but this draft has a ton of receiver depth and they may snatch up USC’s Michael Pittman or Notre Dame’s Chase Claypool in the second round.

What are the best football betting strategies?

Football is most popular sports when it comes to the coverage on TV and how many people are betting on it on a weekly basis. Many millions are wagered per each match, but the vast majority of players lose over the long term. Some of them are supporting their home team, and some like to bet for fun. But, there are bettors who bet to win, yet they can’t quite manage to do that.

While bookmakers always have an edge over the players when you take into account their spread, there are ways to make football betting profitable without becoming an expert in betting or maths. The strategies presented in this article are rather simple to execute, yet many bettors and sports fans haven’t heard about them before. This post will show you the best four football wagering techniques. If you follow them strictly, your bets will have a positive expectation in the long-run.

One quick note before we dive into the actual strategies though: The betting market will always take your money if you place our bets on random, due to the spread of the bookmaker. However, there is competition between bookmakers for signing-up customers and keeping them coming back to play. This is what creates opportunities for bettors who are smart with their money. Let’s take a look at the strategies built for taking advantage of these opportunities:

Matched betting

Most sportsbooks will give you an invite offer as free wagers, or top up your first deposit with additional bonus money that can be released by wagering. Frequently, there are reload bonuses or first deposit bonuses available simultaneously, creating an interesting situation. The principle is the same as in online poker, where players can join a new poker room to take advantage of a first deposit bonus that gives them additional edge during playing. Websites like BeastsOfPoker list offers from different poker sites that are available to all new players. There are plenty of this type of offers also from bookmakers, and creating an account with a new one can be done in a few minutes online.

You can benefit risk-free from these offers by a strategy called matched betting, where you bet on both sides of the soccer match with an overlay for both selections. Because of the free wagers offered by the sportsbooks, you will have an ensured a profit no matter which team ends up winning.

Remember to check best odds for the match when comparing different bookmakers that have free wager offers available. You can follow live odds for different sports including soccer on our website.

Soccer accumulator promotions

Accumulator bets that consist of multiple soccer matches are quite popular among bettors. You can choose two or more matches and place your bet on all them. While the odds and reward for winning can be very high with this type of bets, remember that bookmakers have a margin for each of the selections. These margins are multiplied the more selections your accumulator bet includes, making your expectation in the long run quite low.

But, there are ways to overcome this edge of bookmakers. If you find an offer where you get a refund of your stake in case one selection fails to win, you have much better expectation for the bet. When you lay each selection on a betting exchange and place an accumulator at the same time, you can actually make a risk-free profit no matter the outcomes of the selections.

Match price boosts

For big soccer matches, you can find offers where sportsbooks will give you improved chances temporarily on a specific market. It could on the visitor side team, over and under market or anything else. Often the match price boost is so high, that you can make a sure win bet by laying the same bet on a betting exchange. The best match price boost offers occur usually during big tournaments like the World Cup games.

Refund promotions

As the name proposes, rather than losing you will recover your bet in specific cases when placing a bet during a refund promotion. One of the most common refund offers is getting your bet refunded in full if the game ends with none goals scored. A refund offer can be used to place a sure win bet if the outcome of the refund is likely enough to happen – otherwise it might be best to just place the refund bet without laying the other the opposite outcome. It can still be a profitable bet in the long run, as long as the bookmaker’s margin is not too high!

Conclusion

Many bettors ignore the different offers from bookmakers that would enable them to bet with a positive expectation in the long run. By following a few simple strategies you can get an edge in soccer betting, as long as you utilize those offers available from bookmakers competing for customers.
