The Super Bowl is closing in, and we are all wondering who to bet on when it comes around. Who will be in the Super Bowl, and who will we be wagering our cash on at Fanduel Super Bowl betting?
There are so many questions, and so many teams are doing so well this season, but who will make it?
What about the Kansas City Chiefs? It is no lie to say that they have been doing really well this season, and that they do have a fair chance at a title or two this year, but might they end up in the Super Bowl?
Well, we cannot know for sure until the time comes, but what we can do is take a look at the team and consider if they may have what it takes to take home the Lombardi Trophy this year!
Pre-merger the team had 3 AFL championships, and post-merger they have secured two Super Bowl championships, one in 1969 and one only recently in 2019. They have two conference championships, with one in 2019 and one in 2020, and 14 division championships.
In fact, they have won every AFC West division title since 2016! They have also been in the playoffs every year since 2015 as well. It would seem the Chiefs have a lot of good going for them!
History Of The Franchise
Let’s not jump the gun though. Things might look good for the Chiefs, but we cannot forget to mention their past.
The Kansas City Chiefs came into being as one of the eight franchises that founded the AFL in 1960, back ten known as the Texans, and based in Dallas.
The team, then known as the Texans moved to Kansas City in 1963, and have been there ever since. They led the league for the most part of the 60s, until the merger in ‘70. However, they appeared in one playoff after the merger, but posted a load of losing records between ‘72 and ‘85.
They managed to find an NFL-best 13 games in ‘95, however they were upset in their opening playoff game by the Colts. They tried for the best league record in ‘97, but were again defeated, this time by the Broncos.
They had a five-year postseason drought, but they returned to glory in ‘03, when they won 13 games and a division title! They went downhill again for a while, including in ‘08 when 2-14 record, a record worst for the team. However, they hired a new front office and new coaching staff to get them back to their best for 2010.
Their turnaround was not long-lived though, and in 2011 they had another disappointing season, and yet another in 2012.
However, there was good news on the horizon, as Andy Reid, a new coach, came to pass. In 2013, they rapidly improved, winning 11 games, and getting to the playoffs. Although they lost the game, they were out of the water, and they finally ended their losing streak in 2015.
Since then, they have been superstar winners, repeatedly doing well since then, making it to every playoff game, and gaining division championships every year since 2016!
How Are Things Looking For The Chiefs In The 2021-2022 Season?
With this in mind, how have they been performing this season? What can we expect of them in the next two months?
Well, the Chiefs have posted a win loss rate of 12-5, putting them in the top 6 best scoring teams so far. The only teams doing better are Tampa Bay and Green Bay. They are equal to the Rams, Cowboys, and Titans.
They are due to face the Steelers in the NFL Wild Card Round on Sunday 16th January too.
They have made it through the regular season with flying colors, and we expect to see them at the playoffs again this year. In fact, with such great scoring, we also expect them to retain their title with the AFC West Division Championship, too.
Their fellow AFC West franchises, the Broncos, and the Chargers both already lost to the Chiefs, and the Raiders lost 41-14 to the Chiefs in November. So, we completely believe that if the Chiefs do not make the Super Bowl this year, they will keep their Division title.
