1995 (NFL): The San Diego Chargers reach their first Super Bowl after defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 17-13 in the AFC Championship. The Chargers were a 9-point road underdog and the game stayed under the total of 36 points. San Diego rallied from a 13-3 3rd quarter deficit behind two 43-yard touchdown passes by quarterback Stan Humprhries - one to Alfred Pupunu and the other to Tony Martin. The Chargers would go on to get blown out 49-26 by the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX.
2000 (NFL): In the largest margin of victory in a Super Bowl era NFL playoff game (and 2nd most ever behind the Chicago Bears 73-0 victory over the Washington Redskins in the 1940 NFL Championship), the Jacksonville Jaguars defeat the Miami Dolphins 62-7 in an AFC Divisional Round game. The Jaguars were a 7½-point home favorite and the game went over the total of 37 points. Jacksonville raced out to 24-0 1st quarter lead thanks to 2 touchdowns in a 25 second span - a Fred Taylor 90-yard touchdown and a Tony Brackens 16-yard defensive fumble return for a touchdown. The game turned out to be Dolphins' quarterback Dan Marino final game as he finished the day 11-for-25 with 95 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. Marino was taken out of the game after the the first series in the 2nd half and replaced by backup Damon Huard. The Jaguars lost the following week 33-14 to the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship game.
2006 (NFL): After taking a 21-3 lead into the 4th quarter, the Pittsburgh Steelers withstand a 4th quarter comeback by the AFC's top-seed Indianapolis Colts to win 21-18 in an AFC Divisional round playoff game. The Steelers were a 9.5-point road underdog and the game stayed under the total of 48 points. Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for 197 yards and 2 touchdowns and made a game saving tackle with just over a minute left the game after a fumble by Jerome Bettis at the Colts 1-yard line. The Steelers would go on to defeat the Seattle Seahawks 21-10 in Super Bowl XL.
