Top 10 Tennis Players of Last Decade

Professional tennis is finally starting to return, with the US Open set to go ahead and some of the biggest names in the sport getting back into action. The return to the courts also presents plenty of opportunities to get involved in tennis betting, giving you the chance to enjoy the action and make some money. With 2020 closing out the decade, we’ve decided to take a look at the best players over the last 10 years.

10. Dominic Thiem

The 26 year old Austrian only really came to prominence towards the end of the decade, but in reaching the Australian Open final and the French Open final twice in the last three years, he’s tipped to go onto much bigger things.

9. Angelique Kerber

Since 2016, the 32 year old German has won Wimbledon, the US Open and the Australian Open. The French Open remains the only Grand Slam out of her reach, but here is still time for her to rectify that.

8. Simona Halep

Seems to have been on the tour forever, but is still only 28 years old. She struggled at the beginning of the decade, but finished with a French Open win in 2018 and Wimbledon win in 2019 to secure her place in this list.

7. Maria Sharapova

Despite only 2 Grand Slam titles in the last decade, she deserves her place here. Ranked number one on five separate occasions, the Russian’s stellar 19 year career at the top level has secured her status as a legend in women’s tennis.

6. Stan Wawrinka

As the focus of men’s tennis began to shift towards extraordinary levels of stamina and physical strength, Stan the man rose to the fore. In the middle of the decade, he won the Australian Open (2014), the French Open (2015) and the US Open (2016).

5. Andy Murray

In 2013, Murray cemented his place in British sporting history when he became the first Briton to win Wimbledon since Fred Perry in 1936. The year before, he won the US Open and added another Wimbledon crown to his list of honours in 2016.

4. Serena Williams

Arguably the greatest women’s player of all time. Her dominance saw her win 12 of her 23 Grand Slam titles in the last decade and she remains just one title behind Margaret Court’s all-time record, it’s unlikely she’ll retire until she at least matches it.

3. Rafael Nadal

A firm fan favourite due to his never-say-die attitude, the Spaniard has amassed 13 Grand Slam titles in the last decade. Eight of those were in the French Open, earning him the deserved nickname the “King Of Clay”.

2. Roger Federer

Despite only landing four Grand Slam titles in the last decade, the Swiss is simply timeless. At 39 years old, he continues to mix it with the very best players and more than holds his own. He effortlessly glides around the court and his backhand is simply a work of art, having been dubbed the favorite among the best tennis betting sites for the past decade. The most talented player there has ever been, without a doubt.

1. Novak Djokovic

Landing 16 Grand Slam titles in the most competitive era of men’s professional tennis is no mean feat. Djokovic’s stamina is hardly believable and he’s developed his style to enable him to literally beat anyone on the tour. A worthy number one.
