Being a great wrestler requires being in tip-top condition and this was on display during one of the most iconic matches in WWE history took place in 1987 when the hugely popular Hulk Hogan went up against Andre the Giant. This match brought the WWE to a mainstream audience, attracting fans from across the globe. Andre the Giant had been undefeated for 15 years when he faced off against the Hulk that fateful day. With over 90,000 fans packed into Detroit's Pontiac Silverdome, Hogan slammed the Giant, followed by a leg drop finisher, winning the match. Hulk's match-winning move became known as the body slam heard around the world.
The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels—WrestleMania 25
Few wrestling matches can compare to this match during WrestleMania 25, featuring two of the best in-ring performers in WWE history. The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels didn't hold back, making every effort to put on a memorable show. Many would argue this match was the best in WWE history, and they'd have a strong argument. Spectators witnessed the Undertaker almost break his neck when he dove outside the ring. A rare moment when it appeared the Undertaker could lose a match.
The Rock vs. Stone Cold—Wrestlemania X-Seven
This no DQ match was a showdown between two of wrestling's biggest stars, the Rock and Stone Cold. A lot was going on in this match, with the Rock giving Stone Cold Stunner before Stone cold gave him a Rock Bottom. They went back and forth like this for a while until Vince McMahon showed up and helped Stone Cold win. It was a lot to take in during one wrestling match.
The Rock vs. Mankind—I Quit Match
Our second entry featuring the Rock was a match many call the best creature vs. creature match in wrestling history. It was also one of the most violent matches in history. There was a lot of build-up leading to the 1999 match at the Royal Rumble between the Rock and Mankind. Their rivalry began during the 1998 Survivor Series, and there was a lot of trash talking between the two leading up to their 1999 face-off. The Rock pummeled Manking with 11 shots with a steel chair to the face, leaving Manking unconscious. Unsurprisingly, the Rock won the match.
Ric Flair vs. Ricky Steamboat—Clash of the Champions VI 1989
Two of the biggest names in wrestling went head to head in a match that left spectators in awe. This match of the year was the second face-off between Flair and Steamboat and was one of the most incredible displays of professional wrestling ever. The match lasted over an hour, as they kept hitting reset after each pin. It was a beautiful wrestling match where the competitors didn't waste a single move. It would go on to become a model for modern wrestling.
