There are a number of terrific games on the schedule this weekend in the National Football League, but the best one might take place in Boston. The New England Patriots will be hosting the Dallas Cowboys in a battle of Super Bowl contenders. The Patriots still have the best record in the AFC, and the Cowboys are trying to play their way to the top of the NFC. There will be plenty of stars on the field in this game.
The New England Patriots come into this game with a 9-1 record to lead the AFC East Division by two games. New England did suffer a blowout loss to the Baltimore Ravens just a few weeks ago, but they have rebounded nicely. Dallas comes into this game with a record of 6-4, and they have built up a nice lead in the NFC East Division. The Cowboys have now won three of their last four games. New England is a -6.5 point favorite over Dallas in this game.
Patriots Defense Continues to Impress
The New England Patriots are usually a terrific defensive team, but they have definitely stepped up their game this season. New England is giving up just over 10 points per game, and they get a ton of pressure on opposing quarterbacks. The Patriots have racked up 37 sacks already this season, and also have 28 takeaways this season. New England will need to get some pressure on Dak Prescott if they are going to win this game.
Quarterback Tom Brady is not having a typical season for him, but the future Hall of Famer is still one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Brady has thrown for over 2,700 yards already this season, and he has also been sacked 16 times. Running back Sony Michel is averaging just 3.3 yards per carry, but he is also a weapon in the passing game. New England will need some balance on offense in this game.
Prescott Leading Explosive Cowboys Offense
Speaking of quarterbacks, the Dallas Cowboys also have one of the best ones in the NFL. Dak Prescott has thrown for over 3,200 yards this season, and the Cowboys are giving him plenty of freedom to throw. The young QB does need to take better care of the ball, and has thrown nine interceptions this season. Running back Ezekiel Elliott is nearing 1,000 rushing yards again this season, and is a monster when he has the ball. The Dallas Cowboys have one of the best offensive rosters in the NFL.
Dallas has had one of the best defenses in the NFL over the last few seasons, but that hasn’t been the case in 2019. The Cowboys are still a solid defensive team, but they haven’t been as dominant as they have been in recent seasons. Dallas is allowing 19.7 points per game, and keeping the Patriots under 20 would have to feel like a victory in this matchup.
Patriots Get Big Win Over Cowboys
This is a matchup of two of the most storied franchises in the NFL, but only one of them has been dominant in the last few decades. The Dallas Cowboys would love to be as successful as the New England Patriots, but they haven’t really been close. This game will be a battle of one of the best offenses in the NFL trying to score on one of the best defenses. Dallas has been able to find plenty of offense, but look for the Patriots to shut them down in this game. New England and Tom Brady will find just enough offense to win this game.
