The more things change, the more they stay the same, and while the world is still stuck in the throes of a seemingly never-ending pandemic and we are all waiting to rush toward the light at the end of the tunnel, the one thing that we can depend on to help us get through it is Sunday football.
With the season in full swing, it might seem a little late in the game (you’re going to have forgive us the odd pun, we have been locked in the house for nearly eighteen months) to think of ways to up the football ante, and enjoy the games a little more, but after the couple of years that we’ve all had, we all deserve to smile a little more. That’s why we’ve come up with five easy ways to make your NFL Sundays more enjoyable.
Watch Parties
The lockdowns have started to lift, the restrictions have begun to ease a little bit and while we are still not in the clear by any stretch of the imagination, life is starting to get back to normal. That means that we can spend time with our families again, and we can hang out with our friends, and you know what that means don’t you?
That’s right, it means that you can watch the game with your friends and enjoy some pizza and beer with them again. And even if your best buddies live too far away to turn up in person to watch the game, you can always get them to Zoom in and watch the game with you, or vice versa. Football is always better when it’s enjoyed with a group of friends.
The Full Fan Experience
If you’re anything like us, you’ll miss sitting in the stands surrounded by your fellow fans while swathed in an ocean of your team’s colors. But you don’t have to miss it, you can turn your home into a stadium. Well, sort of.
Hang a flag to the wall behind the TV, put your favorite shirt on, hang those posters, drink some suds from a frosted mug with your team colors on it and pin posters and all of your old shirts to the wall while the game is in full flow. You don’t have to go to the stadium to have a good time, you can bring the spirit of the stadium home with you.
Have A Wager. Or Two…
If you really want to get into the spirit of things, you could always place a bet online and get really involved in the action. It’s legal and it’ll add a little pep to the game, make your heart pump a little faster and you’ll start to feel like you’re actually there and fully immersed in the game.
And the best thing about online betting? You can actually alter your strategy as the game proceeds, and place additional bets if the mood takes you. As long as you’re careful and you don’t get too carried away or crazy, you could put a little extra in your pocket at the same time as your team scores the winning touchdown. After all, isn’t that what football is all about? The rabid, contagious sweet scent of victory? Of course, it is.
Get Involved In Online Fandom
Every single team in the NFL has its own online community, and it only takes a couple of minutes to join and start talking with like-minded people about the games as they’re happening.
It’s an incredibly fun and different way to meet new people, make new friends and enjoy a game with fans who care about it as much as you do, and if the other members of your family don’t enjoy football, it’ll give you an outlet to talk about it with people who do.
Listen, Watch And Observe
Did you ever take a moment or two to listen to the pundits and the commentators and hear what they had to say about the game? Arguing with them (even though they can’t hear you), can be incredibly cathartic and release all sorts of pent-up emotions that you never knew you needed a release valve for.
And sometimes they can also provide additional insight into what’s happening on the field, that you might not have given any credence to or even thought about. Even pundits, like a broken clock, can be right a couple of times a day, you just need to step back and listen to them every now and then. Who knows, they might just help you to see your favorite game in a whole new light…
