Having received the shock news Jürgen Klopp will leave Anfield at the end of the season, Liverpool will be determined to send the German tactician off with a second Premier League winners medal.
The man from Stuttgart has enjoyed a tremendous nine years with the English giants and owes the club nothing in terms of the success he has brought. However, lifting the Premier League trophy and stopping rivals Manchester City from winning an unprecedented fourth consecutive title, would be the perfect send-off for the iconic Klopp.
Reds Are Back After Last Season’s Blip
Finishing down in fifth place for the 2022/23 Premier League season, it was a below-par campaign for the Reds. Liverpool, who are +220 with a football bet to win the Premier League title this season, endured a torrid campaign which was certainly not helped by a host of injuries to key players. The Merseyside have responded well to last season’s disappointment and look much more like their former selves in their bid to claim a second Premier League title in the club’s history after success in 2019/20.
Liverpool has been boosted by the return to fitness of key players but also it has been a case of the new recruits who have been enjoying their first campaign at Anfield. World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister joined for big money from Brighton & Hove Albion over the summer and the Argentina playmaker has become an important creative figure in the final third for Klopp. Meanwhile, Wataru Endō was a somewhat unknown entity following his move from Stuttgart but the Japan international has stepped up well to the rigors of the Premier League. Combining well with the more familiar names at Anfield, Klopp again has a squad at his disposal that can challenge for the title.
Salah Key For Reds’ Success
Mohamed Salah has been back to some of his best form this season, with the Egyptian star scoring 15 Premier League goals in his first 22 appearances. The 31-year-old has had to cope with injuries and the disruption the Africa Cup of Nations brought at the start of 2024. However, the experienced forward has still been a key player for Klopp and finds himself firmly in the race for the Golden Boot in the English top flight this season.
Klopp will be hopeful Salah can remain fit for the remainder of the campaign and maintain his scoring rate to keep the Reds firmly in the title race. The likes of Diogo Jota and Luis Díaz will also need to step up in the coming games and try to take some of the pressure off Salah for goals. It seems like the group of forwards has formed a strong bond and is progressing after the departure of some big names in Sadio Mané and Roberto Firmino. This next generation have been developing nicely and Liverpool looks to be strong in that area once again.
With Manchester City and Arsenal showing their title credentials too, it’s set to be an intriguing battle for the remainder of the campaign. Liverpool have claimed the Premier League title once before and will be doing all they can to send Klopp off into the sunset with another medal around his neck.
