1976 (Golf) In the 3rd PGA Tournament Players Championship - Jack Nicklaus wins the tournament for the 2nd time after shooting a 7-under 65 to win by 3 strokes over J.C. Snead. Nicklaus was the favorite to win the tournament at +600.
1997 (Boxing): In the final fight of his career, 40-year old Sugar Ray Leonard is knocked out for the first time in his career by Hector Camacho in the 5th round. Camacho, who improved to 63-3-1, was a +120 underdog for the fight. Leonard, who came out of retirement after a 6-year hiatus from fighting, finished his career with a 36-3-1 record.
2003 (Boxing): In a WBA heavyweight title fight - Roy Jones Jr becomes the 7th boxer in history to hold world titles in 4 different weight divisions after defeating John Ruiz in a 12-round unanimous decision. Jones Jr was a -200 favorite for the match as he improved to 48-1. It was the only fight of Jones Jr's career at the heavyweight division.
