1979 (College Basketball): In the round of 32 of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament - the top 2 seeds in the East Regional, #1 North Carolina and #2 Duke, are upset in what are essentially home games played in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Tar Heels, who were 7½-point favorites, lost 72-71 to #9 seed Penn while the 5-point favorite Blue Devils lost 80-78 to #10 seed St. Johns. Penn would go on to defeat St. Johns in the East Regional final but ultimately lose to eventual National Champion Michigan State 101-67 in the National Semifinal.
1999 (College Basketball): #14 seed Weber State of the Big Sky Conference defeats #3 seed North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats were a 13½-point underdog and the game went over the total of 141 points. Weber State was led by forward Harold Arceneaux, who had 36 points and was 5-of-7 from behind the arc. The Wildcats would go on to lose 82-74 in the next round to #6 seed Florida.
1999 (NBA): After starting the season 0-17, the Los Angeles Clippers get their first win of the season as they defeated the Sacramento Kings 106-92. The Clippers were a 9-point home underdog and the game stayed under the total of 199½-points. Los Angeles had 7 players scoring in double figures and were led by Darrick Martin's 18 points. The losing streak matched the expansion 1988-89 Miami Heat for the NBA record of consecutive losses to start the season.
