1989 (NBA): At the 39th NBA All-Star game, played at the Astrodome in Houston, TX - the West beats the East 143-134 as Karl Malone is named MVP after scoring 28 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. The West covered as a 1½-point favorite and the game went over the total of 268 points. Malone was +600 to win the All-Star MVP. This was 41-year old Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's final All-Star appearance as he played 13 minutes and scored 4 points.
2012 (Golf): Phil Mickelson shoots a final round 8-under 64 in the final round to win the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am by 2 strokes over Charlie Wi. Mickelson, who won the tournament for the 4th time in his career, entered the tournament at +2000 to win the title. He was paired with Tiger Woods on the final day, who shot a 3-over 75 and ended up tied for 15th place.
