1977 (MLB): The New York Yankees win their 21st World Series championship as "Mr. October" Reggie Jackson hits 3 consecutive home runs, each on the first pitch against three different pitchers, to give the Yankees a 8-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 6 of the Fall Classic. The Yankees were even money home underdogs for the game and entered Game 1 as +110 underdogs to win the series. Jackson was named World Series MVP for the 2nd time as he also won the award as a member of the Oakland Athletics in 1973.


2009 (NFL): Tom Brady throws for 6 touchdown passes - including an NFL record 5 in one quarter - in the New England Patriots 59-0 rout of the Tennessee Titans. The Patriots were 9-point home favorites and the game went over the total of 37½-points.
