1986 (NBA): Alvin Robertson records only the 2nd quadruple-double in NBA history in the San Antonio Spurs 120-114 victory over the Phoenix Suns. The Spurs covered as a 4-point home favorite as Robertson finshed the night with 20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals.
2001 (NASCAR): 49-year old racing legend Dale Earnhardt Sr dies in a crash on the last lap of the 43rd Daytona 500. Michael Waltrip, who entered at 50-1 to win the race, won the checkered flag just 0.124 seconds ahead of Dale Earnhardt Jr. The fatal crash led to NASCAR implementing rigorous safety improvements.
2007 (NBA): Kobe Bryant is named MVP of the 56th All-Star Game held in Las Vegas, Nevada after scoring 31 points, and having 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals in the West's 153-132 blowout victory over the East. The West covered as a 3½-point favorite and the game went over the total of 255 points.
