1993 (NBA): At the 43rd annual All-Star Game in Salt Lake City - the West defeats the East 135-132 in overtime as Utah's Karl Malone and John Stockton become the first players from the same team to be named co-MVP's of the All-Star game. The West covered as a 2-point favorite and the game stayed under the total of 269 points. Malone had 28 points and 10 rebounds while Stockton scored 9 points and had 15 assists and 6 rebounds. The East were led by Michael Jordan, who had 30 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals.
2016 (NASCAR): In a photo finish, Denny Hamlin wins the closest finish in Daytona 500 history by 1/100th of a second over Martin Truex Jr. Hamlin was +1000 to win the race as he took the lead from Matt Kenseth in the final lap.
2021 (Tennis): #1 seed Novak Djokovic wins his 9th Australian Open title after beating #4 seed Daniil Medvedev 7-5, 6-2, 6-2. Djokovic was a -115 favorite for the match and entered the tournament as the +130 favorite to win the title. Overall, it was Djokovic's 18th Grand Slam title - leaving him two behind (at the time) of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer for most on the all-time list.
