1989 (MLB): Rick Dempsey's solo shot off of Dennis Martinez in the top of the 22nd inning breaks a scoreless tie as the Los Angeles Dodgers go on to defeat the Montreal Expos 1-0. The Dodgers were even money road underdogs in the game that lasted 6 hours and 14 minutes. The contest marked the 2nd longest shutout in MLB history behind only the Houston Astros 1-0 victory over the New York Mets that went 24 innings in 1968.


2006 (MLB): The Kansas City Royals become the 2nd team in MLB history to score 10 runs in the 1st but not win the game after losing to the Cleveland Indians 15-13. The Indians were -135 road favorites and the game went over the total of 10½-runs after the 1st inning. Cleveland scored 4 runs in the top of the 9th to tie the game and then took the lead in the top of the 10th inning when they scored 2 runs.


2008 (Women's Basketball): At the Beijing Summer Olympics - The U.S. women's team wins its 4th straight Olympic gold medal after defeating Australia 92-65. The U.S. easily covered as 8½-point favorites
