1950 (Boxing): Sugar Ray Robinson knocks out Puerto Rican José Basora 55 seconds into the first round. Robinson was a -160 favorite as he impoved to 111-1-2 and retained the middleweight title. The two fighters had previously fought 5 years earlier to a 10-round draw.
1985 (MLB): Dwight "Doc" Gooden becomes the youngest 20-game winner in MLB history after the New York Mets defeat the San Diego Padres 9-3. The Mets were -180 home favorites as Gooden was 20 years, 9 years and 9 days - 27 days younger than when Cleveland Indians legend Bob Feller reached 20 wins in 1939. Gooden would go on to win the National League Cy Young award after going 24-4 with an 1.53 ERA.
2011 (MLB): The New York Yankees become the 1st team in MLB history to hit 3 grand slames in one inning in their 22-9 victory over the Oakland Athletics. The Yankees were -225 home favorites and the game sailed over the total of 9½-runs as Robinson Cano, Russell Martin, and Curtis Granderson hit the 3 grand slams.
