1984 (NBA): New York's Bernard King and Detroit's Isiah Thomas engage in a great playoff shoot-out in a deciding Game 5 first round playoff series won by the Knicks 127-123 in overtime. New York entered the game as 3½-point underdogs as King scored 12 of his game-high 44 points in the final 5:12 of the 4th quarter. Thomas stole his thunder in regulation as he tallied the Pistons final 14 points in a span of 1:34 to send the game to overtime. New York would go on to lose in the next round in 7 games to the Boston Celtics.
2001 (NBA): The Charlotte Hornets defeat the Miami Heat 94-79 in Game 3 of the first round of the playoffs to sweep the best-of-5 playoff series. The Hornets covered as 5-points favorites as they were +160 underdogs to win the series. It's the fourth straight playoffs that the Heat bow out as the favorite to a lower-seeded opponent. Charlotte would go on to lose in the next round in 7 games to the Milwaukee Bucks.
2008 (MLB): As +120 underdogs, San Francisco's Barry Zito gives up eight runs over three innings in a 10-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Zito joined Dave Stewart (1984, Rangers) and Mike Maroth (2003, Tiger) as the only pitchers in baseball history to lose six games in the month of April.
