1974 (Boxing): At Madison Square Garden in New York City - Muhammad Ali avenges the 1st loss of his career after defeating Joe Frazier in a 12-round unanimous decision. Ali was a -160 favorite for the match that was nearly 3 years after their first fight in which Frazier won by a 15-round unanimous decision.
1990 (NFL): The San Francisco 49ers repeat as Super Bowl champions after destroying the Denver Broncos 55-10 in Super Bowl XXIV at the Superdome in New Orleans. The 49ers covered as an 11½-point favorite and the game went over the total of 47 points. The margin of victory (45) and points scored (55) remain Super Bowl records. 49ers quarterback Joe Montana was named Super Bowl MVP after passing for 297 yards and 5 touchdowns. Wide receiver Jerry Rice caught 3 of those TD passes as he finished the day with 7 catches for 148 yards. It was the 49ers 4th Super Bowl title in 9 years, certifying them as the best team of the 1980's.
2018 (Tennis): Roger Federer wins his 20th and final Grand Slam singles title at the Australian Open after defeating Marin Cilic 6-2, 6-7, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Federer entered the tournament as the favorite at +225 and was a -400 favorite for the match.
