1971 (Golf): Jack Nicklaus shoots a 1-over par 73 but hangs on for a 2-stroke victory over Billy Casper to win his 2nd PGA Championship. Nicklaus entered the tournament as the co-favorite with Arnold Palmer at +600 to win the title. Nicklaus became the first golfer to complete the modern career Grand Slam twice (2 wins in each of the 4 major championships). The tournament was moved from August to February due to the anticipated oppressive summer weather in Florida.
2010 (Olympics): At the Winter Olympics held in Vancouver, Canada - Sidney Crosby scores the game-winning goal 7:40 into overtime for host nation Canada, giving them a 3-2 victory over the United States in the Gold Medal game. Canada was a -260 favorite for the game and entered the Olympics as the even money favorite to win Gold. It was the record 8th time the Canadiens took home the Gold (breaking a tie with Russia).
2012 (NASCAR): In a race delayed by 36 hours due to rain, Matt Kenseth wins the checkered flag at 12:56 a.m. Tuesday morning to win his second Daytona 500. Kenseth, who led the final 34 laps, entered the race at +1800 to win. With 40 laps to go, the race was further delayed by 2 hours and 5 minutes after Juan Pablo Montoya hit a jet dryer which caused fuel to spill onto the track and catch fire.
