1957 (Boxing): Defending the heavyweight title for the first time, 22 year-old Floyd Patterson defeats fellow American Tommy Jackson by TKO in the 10th round. Patterson was a -500 favorite for the fight held at Polo Grounds in New York City.
2014 (MLB): In a 6-hour and 27-minute marathon, the Chicago Cubs play the longest game (by time) in franchise history with a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies. The Cubs were -101 home underdogs and the game stayed under the total of 7½. Backup catcher John Baker picked up the win after pitching a scoreless 16th inning and then scored the winning run in the bottom half of the inning.
2018 (Cycling): Geraint Thomas becomes the 1st Welshman to win the Tour de France, defeating 2nd place finisher Tom Dumoulin of the Netherlands by 1-minute and 51 seconds. Entering the race Thomas was +1400 to win the race as 3-time defending champion Chris Froome, who finished 3rd, was the favorite at +150.
