1937 (Boxing): At Yankee Stadium in Bronx, New York - 23 year-old Joe Louis defends the heavyweight title for the first time by defeating Welshman Tommy Farr in a 15-round unanimous decision. Louis was a -1000 favorite as he improved to 33-1.


2015 (MLB): Jake Arrieta pitches the 14th no-hitter in Chicago Cubs history in a 2-0 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Cubs were -125 road favorites and the game went under the total of 7 runs. Arrietta, who would go on to win the National League Cy Young this season, struck out 12 and walked one batter on 116 pitches.
