1967 (NFL): In the NFL Championship game at Lambeau Field, the Green Bay Packers defeat the Dallas Cowboys 21-17 in "The Ice Bowl" where temperatures reached -13 and the wind chill was -23. The Packers failed to cover as 7-point favorites. Green Bay would go on to win their 2nd straight Super Bowl two weeks later with a 33-14 victory over the Oakland Raiders.
1973 (College Football): In a battle of unbeatens at the Sugar Bowl, #3 Notre Dame defeats #1 Alabama 24-23. The Fighting Irish were 6-point underdogs and would be voted #1 in the final AP and Coaches' polls. In a game that featured 6 lead changes, Bob Thomas' 19-yard field goal with 4:26 remaining put Notre Dame in front for good. Crimson Tide kicker Bill Davis missed an extra point after reserve quarterback Richard Todd scored on a 25-yards touchdown to put Alabama up 23-21.
1988 (NFL): In an NFC Divisional round game, the Chicago Bears defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 20-12 in the "Fog Bowl." The Bears covered as 5½-point home favorites and the game stayed under the total of 38 points. Fog rolled over Chicago's Soldier Field during the 2nd quarter and cut visability to about 15-20 yards for the remainder of the game. Players complained they could not the see the sidelines or 1st-down markers.
