1973 (Boxing): As a -500 favorite, Muhammad Ali suffers a broken jaw in the first round and only his 2nd career loss to Ken Norton in a 12-round split decision. Ali regained the heavyweight title when the two fought again later in the year with Ali winning in a split decision.

1975 (College Basketball): John Wooden coaches his final game as 1½-point favorite UCLA defeats Kentucky, 92-85, in the National Championship. Wooden led the Bruins to 10 National Championships over a 12-year span.

1997 (College Basketball): As a 6½-point underdog, Arizona defeats #1 seed Kentucky 84-79 in overtime to win their first National Championship. Miles Simon led the way with 30 points and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player as Arizona becomes the first (and still only) team to defeat three #1 seeds in a single NCAA men's basketball tournament. The Wildcats entered the tournament at +1800 to win it all.
