1955 (MLB): The Brooklyn Dodgers win the World Series for the first time in franchise history after defeating the New York Yankees 2-0 in Game 7. The Dodgers were +120 road underdogs and entered Game 1 as +110 underdogs to win the series. Dodgers starter Johnny Podres pitched an 8-hit complete game shutout and was named the World Series MVP - the first time the honor was awarded.


1997 (Boxing): Lennox Lewis retains the heavyweight title as he knocks out Andrew Golota 1:35 into the 1st round. Lewis was a -140 favorite for the fight as he improved to 32-1.


2014 (College Football): In a Pac-12 shootout, California defeats Washington State 60-59. The Golden Bears were 3½-point road underdogs and the game sailed over the total of 67½-points. Cougars quarterback Connor Halliday breaks the NCAA passing record with 734 yards and 6 touchdowns. Cal quarterback Jared Goff threw for 527 yards and hit Trevor Davis for a 51-yard touchdown with 3:18 remaining in the 4th quarter to give the Golden Bears the lead for good.
