1989 (NBA): Center David Robinson makes his long-awaited NBA debut in the San Antonio Spurs 106-98 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. The Spurs were 2½-point home underdogs as Robinson scored 23 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and blocked 3 shots. Robinson was the #1 overall pick in 1987 but did not play for 2 years because of his military commitment in the Navy. He would go on to unanimously win the NBA Rookie of the Year Award after averaging 24.3 points, 12 rebounds and 3.9 blocks per game as he led the Spurs to a 56-26 record - a 35 win improvement from the previous season.


2001 (MLB): Luis Gonzalez's bloop single off of Mariano Rivera with the bases loaded gives the Arizona Diamondbacks a 3-2 victory over the New York Yankees in Game 7 of the World Series giving the D-Backs their first title. Arizona was a -130 home favorite and the game stayed under the total of 6 runs. Randy Johnson won his 3rd game of the series and was named co-MVP of the World Series with Curt Schilling. Entering Game 1 the Diamondbacks were +130 underdogs for the series and they entered the season at +1000 to win the championship.


2007 (NFL): Rookie Adrian Peterson breaks the single game rushing record with 296 yards on 30 carries in the Minnesota Vikings 35-17 victory over the San Diego Chargers. The Vikings were 7-point home underdogs and the game went over the total of 42 points. Peterson had 3 touchdowns - including one for 64 yards and another for 46 yards in the 2nd half. The game also featured the longest return from a field goal when Antonio Cromartie scored a 109-yard touchdown as time expired in the first half.
