 <<--  April 3 April 4  April 5 -->>

Only two #6 seeds have won the men's college basketball National Championship and they both happened on this day, five years apart.

1983 (College Basketball): As a 7-point underdog, NC State got a buzzer-beating put-back dunk from Lorenzo Charles to stun #1 ranked Houston, 54-52, in the National Championship. The Wolfpack were underdogs in four of their six tournament games and also won four games by two points or less. The Cougars were led by future Hall-of-Famers Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler.

1988 (College Basketball): Kansas beats Big 8 rival and #1 seed Oklahoma, 83-79, in the National Championship. The Jayhawks were 8-point underdogs despite the game being played at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri. Senior Danny Manning scored 31 points and was named the tournament's Most Oustanding Player as Kansas won their first title in 36 years.

2011 (College Basketball): #3 seed Connecticut defeats #8 seed Butler, 53-41, in the lowest scoring National Championship game since 1949. Needless to say, the under cashed as the total was 132 and Connecticut covered as a 3-point favorite. Kemba Walker scored 16 points and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.

2015 (College Basketball): Kentucky comes up two games short of the first undefeated season since 1976 as Wisconsin topped the Wildcats, 71-64, in the National Semifinal. The Badgers covered as 5-point underdogs as they got revenge on Kentucky when they lost in the same round the previous year. Wisconsin would go on to lose to Duke in the National Championship, 68-63, as a 1-point favorite.

2016 (College Basketball): Kris Jenkins three-pointer at the buzzer gives Villanova a 77-74 victory over North Carolina in the National Championship. The Wildcats covered as 2-point underdogs and the shot put the total over 149½ points.
