2006 (NFL): The Pittsburgh Steelers win their 5th Super Bowl after defeating the Seattle Seahawks 21-10 in Super Bowl XL. The Steelers covered as a 4-point favorite and the game stayed under the total of 47 points. Pittsburgh wide receiver Hines Ward was awarded the Super Bowl MVP after catching 5 passes for 123 yards and 1 touchdown. Numerous calls by the officials went against Seattle as fans and members of the media felt the officiating affected the outcome of the game.
2012 (NFL): Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Statium in Indianapolis - the New York Giants defeat Tom Brady and the New England Patriots for the second time in 5 seasons at the Super Bowl with a 21-17 victory. The Giants were a 3-point underdog and the game stayed under the total of 53 points. Giants quarterback Eli Manning won the Super Bowl MVP award for the second time after passing for 296 yards and 1 touchdown. Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw's 6-yard touchdown with 57 seconds left in the game gave them the lead for good.
2017 (NFL): After falling behind 28-3 midway through the 3rd quarter, the New England Patriots storm back to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28 in overtime. The Patriots covered the spread as 3-point favorites and the game went over the total of 57 points (highest ever in a Super Bowl). Patriots running back James White had 139 yards from scrimmage, set a Super Bowl record with 14 receptions and scored 3 touchdowns (including the game-winner with 11:02 left in overtime) but was not named Super Bowl MVP. That award went to Patriots quarterback Tom Brady for the 4th time in his career, who tossed for 466 yards and 2 touchdowns. It was the first time in Super Bowl history that the game went to overtime.
