1995 (NFL): As a 17-point home favorite, the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers defeat the Chicago Bears 44-15 in an NFC Divisional round playoff game. The game went over the total of 44 points as the point spread is tied for the largest for a non-Super Bowl NFL playoff game (New England was also -17 vs Houston on January 14, 2017). The 49ers would go on to defeat the San Diego Chargers in Super Bowl XXIX 49-26 as an 18-point favorite.


2008 (College Football): #2 LSU wins its 2nd BCS National Championship in 5 seasons and becomes the first 2-loss team to play for the title in their 38-24 victory over top-ranked Ohio State. The Tigers, who overcame an early 10-0 deficit, were a 3½-point favorite and the game went over the total 46½-points. LSU quarterback Matt Flynn tossed for 174 yards and 4 touchdowns.


2010 (College Football): At the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, #1 Alabama completes a 14-0 undefeated season with a 37-21 victory over previously undefeated second-ranked Texas. The Crimson Tide covered as a 4-point favorite and the game went over the total of 44½-points. Longhorn quarterback Colt McCoy was injured midway through the 1st quarter and the Crimson Tide took advantage by scoring 24 points in the 2nd quarter. Alabama's running back duo of Heisman Trophy Award winner Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson each ran for over 100 yards and 2 touchdowns.
