1989 (NBA) Trailing by one point with three seconds left in the game, Michael Jordan takes the inbounds pass and drains an 18-footer at the buzzer to give the Chicago Bulls a 101-100 deciding Game 5 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers in their first round series matchup. The Bulls were 6-point underdogs in Game 5 and entered Game 1 as +350 underdogs to win the series. They would go on to lose to the eventual NBA Champion Detroit Pistons in the Eastern Conference Finals.

1994 (NBA) As a 12-point road underdog, the Denver Nuggets became the first #8 seed to win a playoff series when they beat the top seeded Seattle SuperSonics, 98-94 in overtime, in Game 5 of their first round series. The Nuggets were +1400 to win the series and ranks as the largest series upset going back to 1988 (as far back as we have NBA playoffs series prices). Denver nearly pulled off another miracle comeback against #5 seed Utah in the Conference Semifinals when they fell behind 3-0, but ultimately lost the decisive Game 7.

1995 (NBA) In Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, Reggie Miller scores eight points over the final 16.4 seconds of the game to lift the Indiana Pacers over the New York Knicks, 107-105, in Madison Square Garden. The Pacers covered as 3-point underdogs and would eventually win the series in 7 games as +120 series underdogs.

2005 (Horse Racing): 50-1 long shot Giacomo wins the 131st Kentucky Deby in 2:02.75 by 1½-point lengths. Jockey Mike Smith wins his first Kentucky Derby.
