1971 (Boxing): "The Fight of the Century" held at Madison Square Garden in New York City - Joe Frazier hands Muhammad Ali his first professional loss after a 15-round unanimous decision. Frazier was a slight -120 favorite for the fight as he improved to 27-0. The two would fight each other two more times with Ali being victorious in both contests.


1987 (College Basketball) In the ACC Championship game played in Landover, MD - NC State beats in-state rival North Carolina 68-67 to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Wolfpack were an 11-point underdog as guard Vinny Del Negro was named the tournament MVP.


2009 (Golf): South Korean Y.E. Yang wins his first PGA Tour title at the Honda Classic after shooting a final round 2-under 68 to win by a stroke over John Rollins. Yang was part of the field bet which paid +250. 5 months later Yang would defeat Tiger Woods to win the PGA Championship.
