1986 (NBA): At the All-Star Game in Dallas, TX - Detroit Pistons' guard Isiah Thomas wins the All-Star MVP after scoring 30 points and dishing out 10 assists to lead the East to a 139-132 victory over the West. The East covered as a 2½-point favorite.


1991 (Boxing): At Madison Square Garden in New York - 34-year old Sugar Ray Leonard is dominated by 23-year old WBC Light Middleweight Champion Terry Norris in a 12-round unanimous decision. Norris was a +190 underdog for the match as he knocked Leonard down in both the 2nd and 7th rounds. Leonard announced his retirement after the fight but returned to the ring 6 years later and lost to Hector Camacho by TKO in the 5th round.


1992 (NBA): At the 42nd All-Star Game played in Orlando - Magic Johnson plays for the 1st time since he announced his retirement 3 months earlier and leads all players with 25 points and 9 assists to lead the West to a 153-113 victory over the East. The West were a 2-point favorite and the game stayed just under the total 269 points. Johnson won the All-Star MVP for the 2nd time in his career.
