Upcoming NBA Season: Analyzing the Latest Odds and Predictions

It's time for a new start after the Celtics triumphed in the 23/24 NBA season. With plenty of switching across rosters, the 24/25 NBA season will be an exciting one. We’ve looked at the current favorites, with odds from Sportzino, to try and break down who we think will triumph this season.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics go into 2025 as the favorites at Sportzino. Their NBA basketball odds are +310, down from the +400 they had last season. Part of the reason for them being such firm favorites is their trading in the off-season. They made the following moves:

Incoming
• Tristan Enaruna
• Ron Harper
• Baylor Scheierman

Outgoing
• Oshae Brissett
• Svi Mykhailiuk

It keeps the core of their squad together while adding some roster depth to help them next year. Part of the reason they haven’t made any serious moves for big-name players is because they tied their superstars to new contracts. Hauser, White, and Kornet all got extensions or re-signed. As a result, the championship-winning team will go into the new season full of confidence.

We are backing the Celtics to win back-to-back championships. In basketball, dynasties often grab multiple titles in a short span.

Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder had an incredible regular season in 23/24. Their 57-game winning record helped them to the top spot with the Nuggets. Only the Celtics, the eventual champions, had a better winning record. They’ve taken steps in the offseason to try and improve their roster.

Alex Caruso has come in to shore up their defense, which the Thunder hope will help them in the playoffs. Josh Giddey made way in that deal, and they have also signed Hartenstein to a significant deal.

They currently have odds of +780 at Sportzino, making them the second-favorites. It will be a significant challenge to usurp the Celtics in the playoffs, but the positive moves will have Oklahoma fans hoping they go further than the second round, like last time.

However, the 23/24 playoff appearance was the first since 2020, so there’s plenty for the Thunder to build on.

Philadelphia 76ers

The Sixers lost in the first round in 23/24; management seems to have taken that personally. There has been significant roster turnover, with big-name players coming into the team.

Incoming
• Adem Bona
• Andre Drummond
• Justin Edwards
• Paul George
• Eric Gordon
• David Jones
• Caleb Martin
• Jared McCain

Outgoing
• Mohamed Bamba
• Nicolas Batum
• Robert Covington
• Tobias Harris
• Buddy Hield
• De’Anthony Melton
• Cameron Payne
• Paul Reed Jr.
• Terquavion Smith

Although the Sixers have had to move on some good players, the potential to bring in George and Drummond was too hard to resist. As a result, Sportzino has them at +840 for this season. While it will be challenging to improve enough to win the championship this year, the Sixers are likely to show an improvement in their performance.

They’re unlikely to win the title, but we expect George and Embiid to build an impressive partnership. With some smart additions next offseason, 25/26 could be a big year for Philly.
